Thunderbird: spell checker doesn't work - what to do?
If the spell checker does not work in Thunderbird, you either have not activated it or you have not installed a dictionary. We'll show you how to solve both problems.
Thunderbird: Install spell check dictionary
- Even if there is a spellchecker feature in Thunderbird, you won't be able to use it easily.
- Thunderbird comes without a German dictionary, so you have to install it manually.
- Either download the German Thunderbird dictionary from Mozilla or activate this alternative dictionary using an add-on.
Thunderbird: Enable spell checking
- Click on the menu button at the top right and select the "Settings".
- Go to the "Compose" category and select the "Spelling" tab.
- Activate the option "Activate immediate spell check" and close the window with "OK".
- Then every misspelled word is underlined in an email. With a right click you will also receive suggestions for the correction.
