Repair Thunderbird - Here's how
Thanks to Thunderbird, your emails are always at hand. If you have any problems, you should repair the program. It is best to completely remove the mail client and then reinstall it. In this tip, we explain how to do this.
How to fix Thunderbird
- First download and install the free Revo Uninstaller tool.
- Start the program after the installation and wait until the list with the installed programs has been created (see picture).
- Look for "Thunderbird" there and double click on the entry. Select "Advanced" as the uninstallation method.
- After the normal uninstallation, the Revo Uninstaller first looks for any remaining registry entries. If any were found, click on "Mark all" and finally "Delete".
- You will then see remaining files and folders that you can remove from your PC in the same way.
- After the uninstallation is complete, download the latest version of Thunderbird and install the program as usual.
- After a short restart, the program should be repaired and fully operational again.
This practical tip is based on Revo Uninstaller 1.95 and Thunderbird 38.5.1 under Windows 7. What you can do if Thunderbird does not give any feedback, we will tell you in the next practical tip.
