Thunderbird does not check emails - it could be because of that
Thanks to the freeware Thunderbird you have your emails quickly and easily at hand. However, it can happen that the tool does not retrieve mails. We explain how to fix the problem in this guide.
Thunderbird: Emails are not retrieved - you can do that
If Thunderbird stops checking email, you should follow our tips.
- First, make sure you are connected to the internet. To do this, you can open any page in your browser. You can find more information in our separate practical tip.
- You can also check in Thunderbird whether you are working offline. To do this, open the menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines and under "File" and "Offline" remove the check mark at "Work offline".
- Under "Settings" and "Account Settings" you have the possibility to check the correctness of your email account settings.
- In particular, the server details, the user name (usually the email address) and the associated password must be correct so that communication can take place.
- Detailed information on setting up your account in Thunderbird for the providers GMX Mail, T-Online, 1und1, Web.de and Yahoo can be found in the respective practical tips.
- A server failure of your provider can also be responsible for not being able to check your mail. You can check this by contacting your internet provider. If you have a temporary problem, try again later.
- Perhaps your provider has blocked your email account due to misuse. Contact them for more information.
