Thunderbird: Disable instant spell checking
Thunderbird's instant spell checker is handy, but can also be annoying. We'll show you how to disable it.
How to enable / disable instant spell checking in Thunderbird
You can turn instant spell checking on or off in Thunderbird settings. This also works if you are composing a message. Here's how it works:
- In the menu bar or in the Compose window, click on Tools> Settings> Compose> Spelling at the top.
- Here you will find the option "Activate immediate spell check" (see image). Simply remove the check there or put it back if you want to activate the spell check.
The practical tip relates to Thunderbird version 17.0.6. Read how to install the spell checker here.
