Thunderbird does not start - what to do?
If Thunderbird no longer starts, it may be due to incorrect settings. In this practical tip, we will show you possible causes and how to fix the problem.
Thunderbird no longer starts - you can do that
- First try to start Thunderbird in Safe Mode. To do this, hold down the Shift key while double-clicking Thunderbird.
- In some cases, starting Thunderbird as an administrator can help. To do this, right-click on Thunderbird and select "As administrator".
- If the program does not start, open the Task Manager with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Esc]. Search for "Thunderbird" in the "Processes" tab and click on it. Then select "End process" and then start the program again.
- You can also try installing the latest version of Thunderbird. You can find these in our download area.
- Before you start Thunderbird, turn off your firewall and antivirus. This may block Thunderbird.
- Alternatively, a new installation can also help. However, first save your profile folder. You can find this under "AppData" in your user directory and "Thunderbird"> "Profiles". In order to make the folder visible, you must first show hidden files.
