Tidal: Change sound quality - how it works
The music streaming service Tidal currently offers you the best sound quality. You can also change this to save the data volume or to listen to the music without interruptions if you have a poor internet connection. Our instructions show you where to make the settings.
Change music quality at Tidal
Tidal advertises a hammer sound that conventional streaming services such as Spotify, Simfy and Napster cannot match. How to change the sound quality on the PC:
- Open Tidal on your computer and log in as usual.
- Then scroll down a bit in the left menu and select the "Settings".
- Then click on the "Stream" tab, you can adjust the sound quality.
- The "HiFi" option is actually only suitable for a large stereo system or with very good headphones. When playing on a PC, you should either select "Normal" or "High". The latter is also suitable if you use headphones.
- As soon as you have clicked on a different sound quality, it is activated.
Change sound quality in the Tidal app
In the Tidal app you can adjust the quality for WiFi and mobile data network separately:
- To do this, open the "Settings" in the Tidal app.
- Here you will find the settings for sound quality right at the top: first for WLAN, then for the mobile network.
- You can choose between "Normal", "High" and "HiFi". We recommend the "Normal" mode for the mobile network.
In the next article, we'll show you how to import your Spotify playlist into Tidal.
