Tidal: How fast does the internet have to be?
Tidal offers high quality streaming and for this your internet has to be pretty fast. How quickly exactly, we explain in this article for the different streaming options in the browser and the Tidal app.
Internet speed for Tidal: only super fast is super cool
Tidal offers its users three different streaming qualities: Premium users can stream up to 320 KB, which corresponds to Spotify and Google Play Music. HiFi users, on the other hand, pay more and can use uncompressed files in CD quality. With our free speed test you can check your speed in a few seconds.
- Premium mode "Normal": Songs under "Normal" have 96 KByte and therefore a little noise. You can even get there with DSL 1, 000, but DSL 2, 000 is more recommended.
- Premium mode "High": You stream the music at 320 KB and should use at least DSL 16, 000. Then you can even send e-mails on the side, because DSL 16, 000 offers about 1.6 MB.
- HiFi mode: CD quality requires the most bandwidth, at least 5 MB. DSL 16, 000 is not enough, at least DSL 50, 000 must be. You get an average of 34 MByte and can still surf the web extensively.
