TomTom Navi starts or does not respond: Reset or reset - how it works
If your TomTom navigation device stops responding, a complete reset usually helps. We'll explain how to reset your device.
Reset satnavs from TomTom
Before you reset your navigation system, you should make sure that it is fully charged. It is best to connect the device to an electrical outlet for at least two hours and pay attention to the charging lamp. Depending on the model, you have to do it differently. Tip: To find your device quickly in our list, search for the model name with the key combination [Ctrl] + [F].
- With the device series GO 6000, GO 5000, GO 600, GO 500, GO 400, GO 60, GO 50, GO 40, GO Live 800, GO 1000, GO 950/750/550, GO 940/740/540, Via, XXL IQ Routes / XXL Classic and XL Live IQ Routes you don't even have to switch on the device:
- You can reset these TomTom sat navs by holding down the on / off button until you hear a drum sound. It takes about 30 seconds. The device restarts after the reset.
- You have to be a bit more careful with the other devices. This applies to the following series: GO 930/730/6430/530, GO 920/720/520, GO 910/710/510, GO and GO 300/500/700.
- First remove the SD card from your navigation system.
- Then use a paper clip or something similar to press the reset button for at least 20 seconds. This is located in a small cavity on the underside of the device and is marked with "Reset".
- Now press and hold the on / off button for at least five seconds.
- Finally switch off the device and, if necessary, insert the SD card again. Now the navigation system should be able to start again as usual.
