Top Cast for Captain America 3: Daniel Brühl signed for third film
In "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Captain America is actively involved, but part 3 of his solo saga is also in the works. Now it is known which other superheroes and stars besides Cap will be shown on the screen in "Captain America: Civil War". In addition to Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, there are also numerous other heroes, newcomers and a surprise from Germany.
Marvel announces cast for "Captain America: Civil War"
Exactly one year before its release on May 6, 2016, Marvel announced who would be involved in the Superhero Civil War alongside Captain America. As the subject suggests, Marvel pulls up the heavy guns here and deploys half an army of well-known characters. "Captain America: Civil War" practically becomes an unofficial Avengers movie.
Above all, of course, Chris Evans is back as eponymous Captain America. In addition, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Sebastian Stan, known from the two predecessors, as Winter Soldier are honored again.
New heroes in Civil War: Ant-Man and Black Panther
But new faces also appear, such as Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, who comes to the cinema with his own film in July. Chadwick Boseman will also be new as the iconic superhero Black Panther and offer a foretaste of his 2017 solo adventure.
Daniel Brühl and Martin Freeman in Captain America 3
It is surprising that Daniel Brühl will also play in "Civil War". And also Martin Freeman, known as Dr. Watson from the successful series "Sherlock" will appear. Unfortunately, it is not yet known what roles the two will take on. The Marvel heroes and the story of the film definitely offer enough material.
Various characters from "Age of Ultron" reappear on Cap. Anthony Macke as Falcon, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Don Cheadle as War Machine are all involved. "Captain America: Winter Soldier" also features Emily VanCamp as Agent 13 and Frank Grillo as Crossbones.
General Thaddeus returns for Captain America: Civil War
A fitting but interesting development is the appearance of William Hurt as General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross. This character was last seen in Marvel's "The Incredible Hulk", where he was very critical of the Hulk. This film is otherwise hardly referenced; at that time Edward Norton played the Hulk while Mark Ruffalo took on the role in the Avengers films. However, neither of the two has been announced to appear in "Captain America: Civil War".
"Captain America: Civial War", as the name suggests, will be about internal battles between the superheroes, i.e. a civil war. Disputes between different Avengers lead to international collateral damage and consequently to increased political pressure on the superheroes.
A new initiative demands more control over the team, which is received differently by the individual members and leads to further battles, while a new adversary appears on the scene. General Thaddeus fits very well into this hero-critical plot, since he has already taken a clear position in "The Indredible Hulk". You can see how well this actually works in May 2016.
