Touchpad: Scrolling doesn't work - you can do that
After an update or a new installation of the operating system, scrolling with the touchpad may not work. This is mostly due to a missing or outdated driver. We'll show you how to fix it.
Touchpad scrolling does not work: Update driver
First of all you should try to update the driver of your touchpad via the device manager.
- Open the device manager. To do this, press [Windows] + [R], enter the command "mmc devmgmt.msc" in the Run window and confirm with Enter.
- Search for "mice and other pointing devices" in the list and open the entry by clicking on the small arrow.
- Right-click on the touchpad entry and select "Refresh".
- Now go to "Search for driver software automatically" and follow the instructions.
- If Windows finds a driver, restart the PC after installation.
Download the touchpad driver manually
If the automatic driver search is unsuccessful, you must manually download and install the touchpad driver for your laptop.
- You can find drivers for your device on the manufacturer's website or in our download area.
- Find the driver for your current operating system. If an appropriate driver is not available, try an older version.
- Download and install the driver by running the "Setup" file.
- Restart your PC after installation.
