TP Link: Login is not possible - you can do that
If the login of your router, repeater or access point of the brand TP-Link is no longer possible, the problem can usually be solved quickly. In this practical tip, we will show you how to regain access to the device.
TP-Link router: login is no longer possible
- First open the web interface of your TP-Link device. You usually need the IP address 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. You can also find the correct IP address on the device itself.
- If the user interface is not accessible, connect the router, repeater or access point to your computer using a LAN cable. The connection via WLAN can be unreliable in case of problems.
- The term "admin" is preset as the user name and password. If that doesn't work, the data has been changed. If you can no longer remember the data, you have to reset the router.
Login does not work: Reset at TP-Link
If the steps above do not help you, all that remains is a reset. The router, repeater or access point is reset to the factory settings. Then you have to configure the device nine. Proceed as follows for the reset:
- On the back of the device you will find a small button labeled "Reset". If the button is in a small hole, you must press it with a pointed object such as a paper clip.
- Press and hold the reset button for around 10 seconds. Release the button if the lights on the device start to flash or otherwise light up. It now takes a few minutes for the device to be ready for use again.
- Now connect the device to your computer using a LAN cable and open the IP address 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. Here you can log in with "admin" and "admin" and set up the router again.
In the next practical tip we will show you how to carry out a firmware update for the TP-Link router.
