Update drivers without internet - is that possible?
Even without an Internet connection on your computer, you can update your drivers and keep your programs up to date. We show you two options in this practical tip.
Update drivers without internet: Determine and update hardware and software
First, you need to check for updates for your drivers:
- Download "SiSoft Sandra Lite 2014" and the "CCleaner".
- Open "SiSoft Sandra Lite 2014" and switch to the "Hardware information" tab.
- Now, for example, write down your graphics card model, the network adapter and the other hardware.
- Then open the CCleaner and click on "Tools". Here you can see the software that is currently installed on your computer.
- Write down the software versions of which you want to install an update.
- Then switch to a PC with Internet access and download the drivers.
- Then transfer the new driver software to a USB stick and connect it to the first computer.
- Now you can install the new updates one after the other on your computer.
Keep programs up to date on CD / DVD
If you have no access to the Internet at all, you still have the opportunity to buy a suitable driver CD from the kiosk or electronics store.
- CHIP magazine often contains the latest drivers and programs on the enclosed CD / DVD.
- For special drivers, for example for a gaming keyboard, you can ask the seller in an electronics store.
- It is also possible that you call the manufacturer of the product directly and ask for a CD with the drivers to be sent to you.
