Triple Tuner: All information
You can often read the term "triple tuner" on new TV sets. In this practical tip, we explain what that is and whether you need this technology.
Triple tuner in the living room: One less device
- You can currently receive television programs in three ways: by cable (DVB-C), via satellite (DVB-S) or via antenna (DVB-T). In the meantime, these signals are all available in digital form and the analogue programs have been discontinued.
- A device with a triple tuner masters all these types of reception and the receiver is integrated directly into your television. How to save yourself the purchase of an external set-top box and a second remote control. Of course there are also older devices. Often they can only receive DVB-S and DVB-T - this system is called dual tuner (see screenshot).
- If you have a television of this type, you do not need another device to receive the television signal. This means you need less space and save yourself an additional remote control.
- Incidentally, the dual tuner is not to be confused with a twin tuner. It allows you to record one program at the same time as you watch another. However, this is only possible within one of the three signal sources.
