Decrypt the TrueCrypt hard drive again - how it works
Users should immediately decrypt their TrueCrypt hard drives again, as the end of TrueCrypt was announced in May 2014. We show the individual steps in these instructions.
Decrypt the TrueCrypt hard drive
TrueCrypt is said to have significant security deficiencies, the exact circumstances are currently unknown. How to decrypt:
- Start TrueCrypt and click on the "Include all data carriers" button below.
- Enter the password for the encrypted hard disk or partition and confirm this with "OK". Then select the desired hard drive or partition from the list.
- Click on the menu item "System" above and select the option "Decrypt system partition / drive permanently".
- Confirm all warnings and enter the password for the encrypted partition / drive.
- When you click the "Decrypt" button, the process starts. Decrypting can take much longer than encrypting.
