If you want to be successful on Twitch and make money, you should apply as a partner. In this overview, we reveal how this works and which requirements you have to meet.
Become a partner at Twitch: The application
Twitch does not usually choose its partners itself. Instead, you need to get active and apply. However, please note that you have to meet certain requirements for the partner program. These vary depending on whether you have previously become known on YouTube and Co or not. You will find all the details in the next two paragraphs. If you meet the requirements, you can start right away:
- To do this, open this link in your browser and log in to Twitch with your account data.
- Then scroll down to "Application".
- Fill in all fields here. The "details" are particularly important. Describe here why you want to become a partner and, above all, name other web portals such as Facebook or Twitter that you are already familiar with. Also explain what you normally transfer to Twitch.
- Finally, click on "Submit application". The Twitch support will check your application and after a while inform you by email whether you have been accepted as a partner.
Twitch partnership: the basic requirements
Basically, you must already be known on Twitch to become a partner. In particular, Twitch requires the following three properties:
- You must have an existing and growing audience of viewers on Twitch streams. This is the case with approximately 500 active viewers who also participate in chat on a regular basis. In individual cases, Twitch can also demand higher or lower values. It is important that your community grows noticeably and that you did not only have a large number of viewers once.
- You also need to stream regularly on Twitch. As a guideline, Twitch states three streams or more per week.
- Finally, you must not broadcast any content that violates Twitch's rules of conduct, terms of use, and DMCA guidelines. This includes, for example, illegal material or right-wing populist content.
- Note: Even if you don't meet these requirements, you can try an application. Sometimes Twitch allows exceptions. There are special requirements especially for YouTubers and other Internet stars - more on this in the next paragraph.
YouTuber special case: Lighter requirements for Twitch partnership
Until recently, you had a much better chance of partnering with Twitch if you were already known on YouTube, Facebook or other social networks. In this case there were special requirements. However, these requirements have now disappeared and Twitch decides on a case-by-case basis. Nevertheless, Twitch might still be based on its previous values, so we have listed them again:
- As a YouTuber, you needed an average of 15, 000 or more views per video.
- You should also have more than 100, 000 subscribers.
- Again, you must not broadcast content that violates Twitch's rules of conduct, terms of use, and DMCA guidelines.
- Note: Ultimately, these were only general guidelines from the start. If you barely fail at the values mentioned or if you have other successes, your chances of a partnership are still good. Make sure to state your previous successes in an application and advertise your channel. This greatly increases your chances of a partnership.
We will tell you in a special article how you can get more viewers at Twitch to meet the partner requirements.
