Those who spend a lot of time on Twitter can find the best tweets, people and more with special search engines. Depending on what you want to search on Twitter, there are different search engines. Here you will find the best recommendations in a top 3 list.
Find tweets using the "Advanced Search"
Navigate to the website //twitter.com/search-advanced in your browser. You can find the tweets you want using the search mask for "Words", "People", "Places" and "Other".
- For example, if you want to read Twitter messages about Cologne Cathedral, enter the keyword "Cologne Cathedral" in the field under "All these words". In the "Places" section, fill in the field with "Cologne". This is how all messages are filtered that contain "Cologne Cathedral" and which were sent near Cologne.
- If you get too many and non-specific results after the search despite the filter, you can refine the search. To do this, use the "Back button" of your browser to go back to the "Advanced search" homepage and add additional filters.
External Twitter search engine "monitter"
An alternative search engine for Twitter can be found on //monitter.com. Here you can find the desired tweets very simply as with the standard search on the Twitter homepage via keywords. That's how it works:
- Open the //monitter.com page.
- Enter the desired terms in the top left at "tweets containing".
- Then click on "Add Column".
- You will then receive the first search results. Although the entire site is in English, the functions it understands are largely self-explanatory. You can click on links in the found tweets. Then you will be redirected to the corresponding Twitter page.
Search Twitter by site query via Google
Google has indexed all Twitter results in real time since 2010. You just need to know how to feed Google with a site query. The term "Koelner Dom site: twitter.com" searches for all tweets that contain the terms "Cologne Cathedral". Both user accounts and individual messages are taken into account. A little tip: If you click on "Images" on the Google search results page, you will also receive the photos that have been tweeted in connection with the Cologne Cathedral.
The featured pages are the best recommendations from a variety of search engines for Twitter. A new search, "Tame", is still under construction. "Tame" enables a very detailed search in real time. There is a foretaste here. The searches were carried out using the "Safari" version 6.0.3 browser.
