Remove U-Search: How it works
Here we show you how to remove the annoying U-Search software from your computer.
Remove U-Search from the search engine management
In most cases, U-Search is installed on the computer when other programs are installed. To make U-Search no longer the start page of your browser, do the following in Firefox:
- Click the drop-down arrow at the top right of the "Search" field. Then select the entry "Manage search engines".
- Now search for "U-Search". Select the name and then click the "Remove" button.
- Now close Firefox.
Delete U-Search from% AppData%
You still have to delete a file so that the program is really removed.
- Click "Start" and then "Documents".
- At the top you can see the path you are in (Libraries> Documents). Click on the empty space next to the path so that you can write something yourself.
- Now enter% AppData%. Confirm this entry with "Enter".
- Look for the "Mozilla" folder. Open this folder and go to the "Firefox" subfolder. There again go to the "Profiles" subfolder. There you should find a folder with a name like "ai59ieh.default". Go to this folder too.
- Look for a file called "user.js" here. Once you have found it, delete the file.
Finally clean the program from the computer
In the last step you have to open your browser again.
- Enter the text "about: config" in the address line of your browser. Confirm the warning by clicking the "I'll be careful, I promise!" Button.
- Search for U-Search in the search line.
- You have to reset all entries found now. To do this, right-click on each entry in succession and select the "Reset" option.
- Restart Firefox. You have now removed U-Search.
It was tested under Firefox 23.0.1. This practical tip shows you how to change the start pages in Internet Explorer or Chrome.
