Ubuntu: Install Avast - so it'll work
With Avast, you can also protect yourself on Ubuntu. We'll show you how to install the anti-virus software.
Step 1: install Avast on Ubuntu
Note: Avast has not been developed for Ubuntu since mid-2014. However, the program can currently still be installed and supplied with updates for virus detection. There is no official download anymore. The download is at your own risk.
- First download the Avast for Ubuntu installation file from UpToDown.com.
- Open the directory of the file and start the .deb file with a double click.
- Now the Ubuntu Software Center starts. Click the "Install" button and confirm any security warnings.
Step 2: activate Avast on Ubuntu
- When the installation is complete, click on the dashboard in the top left and search for "Avast".
- If you start the program, you will be asked to enter a license key.
- Click on the link and register. It is completely free.
- You will then receive the key by email. This enables the program to be activated and used.
