Ubuntu: Change energy settings - how it works
If you configure the energy settings correctly, you will enjoy your netbook for a long time. We'll show you how to change them on Ubuntu.
Save energy by adjusting the brightness
Go to the system settings via the gear wheel in the top right of the task bar. Under the button "Brightness and lock" you will find the most important adjustments with which you save energy.
- Adjust the brightness with a switch. Another icon allows you to darken the screen should you be inactive for a certain period of time.
- The "Lock" option in the same interface completely turns off your screen. Depending on your needs, set up a password query that you enter when you wake the computer from standby.
Regulate your computer's behavior when it is inactive
Click on the "Performance" icon in the system settings. Here you configure the exact behavior of your PC. The user interface distinguishes between "On battery" and "When connected".
- The bar under the specific power settings shows you the exact battery status. In addition, you can choose whether the charge status should be displayed in the task bar or not.
Deactivate all unused interfaces
Wireless connections often use electricity unused and unnecessarily.
- If necessary, you can also deactivate your WLAN in the task bar by removing the checkmark with "Activate radio network".
- You can tell whether Bluetooth is active or not by the icon in the upper task bar. You change the status in the system settings under "Bluetooth".
