How to format your hard drive quickly and effortlessly with Ubuntu is shown in this guide in individual steps.
Format hard drive with Ubuntu
Before you start formatting, you should make a backup of your data.
- If you do not have the latest version of Ubuntu 64 bit or Ubuntu 32 bit, it is worth downloading in advance.
- After you have saved your data, shut down the computer. If the CD-ROM drive is not entered as the first boot option in your BIOS, modify the boot sequence accordingly.
- Then insert the Ubuntu installation DVD and start the computer.
- After you have briefly answered a few small settings such as language selection, radio network and storage space query, you will be taken to the formatting menu.
- Here Ubuntu offers you several options: For example, you can "replace Windows with Ubuntu" or "install Ubuntu next to Windows" and install Ubuntu in a separate partition or on a second hard drive.
- Since you want to format your hard disk with the Linux operating system, select the option "Install Ubuntu as the sole operating system" or alternatively "Replace Windows with Ubuntu".
- The formatting of the hard disk is then prepared. You only have to choose whether or how the hard disk should be partitioned. Ubuntu does the rest for you.
