Ubuntu doesn't find WiFi - you can do that
This practical tip shows you what you can do if your computer does not find the WiFi connection on Ubuntu.
Reasons why Ubuntu cannot find WiFi
Usually, a computer on Ubuntu automatically connects to the WLAN. If you do not find a network, we will show you in the following section what this may be.
- Restart your computer and the WiFi router first to rule out temporary problems on both sides.
- If you want to log in to the device for the first time with the device, make sure that you are within range.
- If you use a mobile WLAN stick, install the associated software and check whether it is compatible with the Ubuntu version.
- With the following command you set Germany as the current region in the Linux terminal: "sudo iw reg set DE". Sometimes it is necessary to set the radio channel directly in the router options. You can find more about this in the respective instructions.
- If you have set up the PC anew and proprietary drivers are still missing, install them.
- If Ubuntu does not find the WLAN yet, it could be worthwhile to set up the system again and to connect the computer to the WLAN during installation.
