In this practical tip we explain what you can do with "fstab" under Ubuntu.
Ubuntu: fstab - clearly explained
You can find the "fstab" file in the / etc folder on your system. The full path is therefore "/ etc / fstab".
- The abbreviation "fstab" stands for "file system table".
- The file is a text file and contains information on how and where storage media and partitions are mounted. It can be opened with any text editor. To edit fstab, you must be logged in as root.
- Each medium is described in one line in the fstab: The name of the partition or the medium, the associated mount point, the file system, the mount options, backup options and the check options for the file system are displayed in the last column.
