If you want to access Google Drive quickly and easily via the file manager in Ubuntu, all you need is the right commands. We'll show you how to set up cloud storage.
Instructions: Use Google Drive with Ubuntu
Google Drive does not offer its own software for Ubuntu. In the file manager Nautilus, however, you can integrate the cloud storage in a few simple steps.
- First open the terminal with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [T].
- You need the Gnome online accounts for the installation. To do this, use the "sudo apt install gnome-online-accounts" command without quotes.
- Then open the Gnome online accounts with the command "gnome-control-center online-accounts".
- Click on "Google" on the right and log into your Google account.
- Allow access via the "Allow" button. You may have to assign a new keychain password.
- Click on your Google account above and set the "Files" option to "On".
- You can now find your Google Drive folder on the left in the file manager. The files displayed there are all in the cloud and are not saved locally on the computer.
