In this practical tip, we explain how to find out the IP address on your Ubuntu PC.
Find out the IP address in the terminal under Ubuntu
Open a terminal window.
- Type ifconfig and press the Enter key.
- There you will find your IP address specified as the "inet address" for the relevant connection type (eg wlan).
- Next to your connection, click the right arrow.
- You will find your IP under "IP address".

Alternatively, you can find out your IP address via the settings. To do this, click on the gear icon in the menu bar.
- Then select "Network".
- There you go to the arrow pointing to the right next to your internet connection.
- In the following window you will find your address under "IP address".
