Change IP address manually on Ubuntu
The entry-level Ubuntu also comes with software for network management - the Network Manager.
- The NetworkManager can be found in the Ubuntu application menu under "Settings"> "Network connections".
- Optional: If the program is not available, you can install it via the terminal. Enter the command "sudo apt-get install network-manager network-manager-gnome". Then start the program with "sudo network-manager".
- All available connections are displayed in the NetworkManager window.
- Click on "edit" to open another window. There you can switch the method to "Manual" in the "IPv4 Settings" tab, enter your new IP address and then save it.
