Ubuntu: Mount ISO - how it works
If you don't want to burn an ISO image to a CD, you can mount and open it directly on Ubuntu without additional software. We show you which commands the process works with.
Mount ISO image on Ubuntu
With Ubuntu you do not need any special software to integrate ISO files or other images. You can mount the virtual data media at any time via the terminal:
- Simultaneously press the [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [T] keys to open the terminal in Ubuntu.
- Enter the command "sudo mkdir / mnt / iso" here. This creates the mount point in the "mnt" directory.
- Then type the command "sudo mount -o loop, ro Image.iso / mnt / iso" to mount the image in the directory you just specified. Replace the "Image.iso" part with the name of your file.
- The image is now virtually integrated into the drive and can be used like a CD.
- You can eject the ISO file again using the "sudo umount / mnt / iso" command.
