The popular construction game Minecraft is also available for Ubuntu. We show you how to install the game here in the practical tip below.
Install Minecraft on Ubuntu
First you have to install Java and then Minecraft. To do this, proceed as follows:
- First, right click on the desktop and click on "Open Terminal".
- Now install Java with the command "sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jre".
- After Java is installed, you will need to add a new package source for Minecraft. To do this, enter the command "sudo add-apt-repository ppa: minecraft-installer-peeps / minecraft-installer".
- Now you can download Minecraft with the command "sudo apt-get install minecraft-installer".
- Finally, you can search and start Minecraft via the Dash. Some files will be downloaded the first time. As soon as this is complete, the launcher opens in which you can log in with your user data.
