Ubuntu: Create a new user - how it works
You can easily create and manage multiple users on the popular Linux operating system Ubuntu. We'll show you how it works.
Create a new account under the Linux operating system Ubuntu
If you want to create a new user, you have two options on Ubuntu. You can either enter the corresponding commands via the terminal or use the graphical user interface. Select the terminal, enter "sudo adduser" and add the name of the new user and any other options. The help page with the corresponding options can be found with the "man adduser" command. The graphical variant is simpler:
- First switch to "System Settings" and choose "User" under "System".
- Click on the "Unlock" button, which you can find in the top right corner. Before that, Ubuntu did not let you create a new user account.
- Then click on the plus sign, which you will find in the lower section of "My Account". Now you can create a new user with name, password and other options.
