Ubuntu: folder cannot be deleted - what to do?
In this practical tip, we explain what you have to do in Ubuntu if a folder cannot be deleted. Usually you can just put a file or folder in the trash. However, if a file cannot be deleted, you do not have the authorization to delete the folder.
Ubuntu: Delete folder with permission
- Open a terminal window.
- Enter the following command: "sudo rm -r / path / file" (without quotes). Instead of "/ path / file" you should enter the path of your file that you want to delete.
- If you don't know the path, right-click on the file and find the storage path under "Basic"> "Location".
- A command can look like this: "sudo rm -r / home / kathi / desk / file".
