Ubuntu: Empty the trash - how it works
Files are not immediately deleted in Ubuntu either, but are moved to a recycle bin. We show you how to empty it in our practical tip.
Empty trash on Ubuntu
You can delete the trash in Ubuntu with a simple command in the terminal:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Open Terminal".
- Now enter the command "sudo rm -rf ~ / .local / share / Trash / *" and confirm with [Enter].
- Finally, all you have to do is enter your password. The wastebasket is then irrevocably emptied.
