Ubuntu: Start the program as administrator
In this article you can read how to start a program as administrator on Ubuntu. In contrast to Windows, you cannot use the right-click> "Run as administrator" option.
How to start an Ubuntu program as administrator
Some programs require administrator rights. We will explain how to proceed in the following steps:
- Open a terminal with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [T].
- The keyword "sudo" allows you access with full rights.
- Enter "sudo program name" in the console and confirm with [Enter].
- In our example we choose "sudo thunderbird".
- Enter your mail password and press the Enter key again. The program now opens with administrator rights.
