Ubuntu: Shutdown at certain time
In this practical tip we will show you how you can program the shutdown of your computer under Ubuntu to a specific time.
Shut down Ubuntu at a specific time
- The easiest way to program the shutdown to a specific time is via the terminal.
- To do this, open the terminal with the key combination [Ctrl] + [Alt] + [T].
- Enter the command "sudo shutdown -h 20:30" without quotes. "20:30" stands for the time in our example, you can of course adjust this to the time you want.
- If you want to shutdown Ubuntu after a certain number of minutes, use the "sudo shutdown -h +60" command, where "60" is the number of minutes to shutdown.
- If you want to cancel the scheduled shutdown afterwards, use the "sudo shutdown -c" command.
