Ubuntu: Start Task Manager - Here's how
There is also a task manager under the Linux distribution Ubuntu, which is very similar to the Windows counterpart. We show you how to find and open the program.
Start Task Manager on Ubuntu
Depending on the desktop environment you use, other programs are included with which you can monitor processes. This guide applies to the most common Unity and Gnome 3 interfaces:
- Unity: If you are using Unity, open the search by pressing the Windows key.
- Search for the keyword "system monitoring" or in the English language version for "system monitor". Then start the program of the same name by clicking the left mouse button.
- Gnome 3: Under Gnome 3, follow the path "System"> "System Management"> "System Monitoring".
- Other: Under all systems, you can use the "top" command to display and manage all processes directly in the terminal.
In the next practical tip on Ubuntu, we will explain what the "fstab" command means.
