In this article we will show you how to display your installed hardware in Ubuntu. There are several options that generally differ only in scope. Choose the method that best suits your purpose.
Method 1: the most important information
Sometimes you only need the name of your processor or the size of your hard drive. In this case, the menu item "Details" in the control panel is sufficient.
- Go to your Ubuntu control panel.
- Now select "Details" under "System". This point is usually in the bottom bar.
- The most important components are now displayed here.
Method 2: More details with user interface
To view more details about your components in an orderly interface, you need to install additional software. To do this, proceed as follows.
- Open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T).
- Enter the following command and then press Enter.
- sudo apt-get install hardinfo
- After installation, open the program by entering "hardinfo" (without the quotation marks) in your program line and then pressing Enter.
- Now you have a complete overview of your installed components.
Method 3: More details without a user interface
If you are familiar with hardware and use the terminal frequently, you can also do the following.
- Open a terminal.
- Enter the following command and then confirm with Enter.
- sudo lshw
- The terminal now outputs a complete list of your components.
