Ubuntu: Show version - how it works
For some applications, you should know which version of Ubuntu you are using. In our article, we will tell you how to display them.
Ubuntu: Show exact version number
You can find precise information about your current version via the terminal:
- Open the Ubuntu terminal with the key combination [CTRL] + [ALT] + [T].
- Type in the command "lsb_release -a" (without quotation marks) and confirm with [ENTER].
- As in the screenshot, you can now see a list of the most important version information. Next to "Description" you will find the exact name of your Ubuntu version. In this example we are working with Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS.
