Ubuntu: Install Xfce - Here's how
- First open the terminal under Ubuntu. To do this, hold down the [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [T] keys.
- Xfce is already preinstalled in Xubuntu. On a running system, you can easily install Xfce as part of Xubuntu.
- Install the package named Xubuntu-Desktop with the following command: sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop
- If you want to install Xfce without any additional software, use this command: sudo apt-get install xfce4
- For the display you need a display manager like GDM or GNOME. If no display manager is installed, you can use the slim LightDM.
- Use the command "# apt-get install lightdm" and start LightDM with "# /etc/init.d/lightdm start".
