Ubuntu: Unzip ZIP files - how it works
Of course, ZIP files can also be extracted under Ubuntu. You can read how to unpack the archives in this practical tip.
Unzip ZIP files on Ubuntu - two commands via the terminal
- Use the "cd" command in the terminal to change to the folder in the ZIP file.
- For example, if the ZIP file is on the desk, enter the following "cd / home / username / desk". Enter your username instead of username.
- Then unzip the file using the "unzip examplefile.zip" command.
Unzip Ubuntu using the right-click menu
You can also unzip the ZIP files via the menu in Nautilus (file manager). In advance, you should have installed the archive manager zip for unpacking and creating ZIP files. To do this, open the terminal and enter "sudo apt-get install zip" (without the quotes) and execute the command.
- Then right-click on the ZIP file in the file browser.
- In the menu that opens, select "Extract here".
- Alternatively, you can also select "Open with archive manager" in the side menu to display the contents of the ZIP file.
