How to write an inverted exclamation mark in Word
The special character, which is often used in Spanish, is not noted on the German keyboard. There are two ways you can still easily insert the symbol in a document:
- Select the desired position in your text and press the key combination: "Control + Alt + Shift + 1" to create an inverted exclamation mark.
- Alternatively, you can also use Unicode. To do this, hold down the Alt key and then tap on the dial 0161. When you then release the Alt key, the inverted exclamation mark is inserted.
This is how you define your own key combination
As an alternative to the pre-stored shortcuts, you can also create your own key combination for the reverse exclamation mark.
- Open Word and move the cursor to where you want to insert the reverse exclamation mark.
- Then switch to "Insert" at the top and click on "Symbol" on the far right.
- Click on "More symbols ..." and make sure that "Font: (normal text)" is selected.
- Then select the inverted exclamation mark from the list of symbols. You can find it pretty far up the alphabet in lower case.
- Then click the "Shortcut ..." button, select your own and then click "Assign".
