Switch to iPhone - synchronization via outlook.com or hotmail.de
You can back up contacts and calendar entries on your Windows Phone using your Hotmail or Outlook.com account. The synchronization in this way is the easiest.
- When you set up your iPhone, all you need to do is set up your Hotmail or Outlook.com account and set it to sync calendars and contacts from the account on iPhone.
- To do this, open the settings and then select the item "Mail, Contacts, Calendar".
- Here you select "Accounts" and then "Add account".
- You will immediately see the "Outlook.com" logo in the list. You select this point.
- Now enter your email address and password so that the account can be set up.
- As soon as the settings have been checked, you can choose, for example, that mail, contacts and calendar are synchronized from the account (see picture).
- After a short synchronization time, your calendar entries and contacts are visible on the iPhone.
Synchronization via Outlook locally from the PC
If you do not want to synchronize your contacts via Hotmail or Outlook.com account, you must export the contacts and import them into your Outlook on the PC.
- To do this, register online at outlook.com.
- You select "Contacts". At the top of the bar you will find "Manage".
- Now select "Export for Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013".
- You will see instructions on how to import the contacts into Outlook 2010 or 2013.
Take pictures from Windows Phone to iPhone - Here's how
You get the pictures on your iPhone in two ways. On the one hand, you can copy the photos from the Windows Phone to the computer and then synchronize them to the iPhone using iTunes.
- If your photos on Windows Phone have always been synchronized with OneDrive, you can download the corresponding OneDrive app to your iPhone. This of course saves internal memory from the iPhone, since you can access the photos online via the OneDrive app.
Synchronize images on the PC
- You can also connect your Windows Phone to the PC and copy your photos from the Windows Phone to the computer. Now you need to connect your iPhone and open iTunes.
- As soon as your iPhone has been recognized, you can select it and then open the "Photos" tab. You have to check the "Sync photos" box.
- You can then select the local photo order from the PC that you want to synchronize with the iPhone.
- We'll also show you how to transfer photos from iPhone to PC without iTunes.
General tips when setting up iPhone

- Before you even start, you need to create an Apple ID. We show you how this works in the practical tip "Create Apple ID - Here's how".
- On the iPhone you can decorate the homescreen with a photo. To do this, go to Settings and select "Backgrounds & Brightness". You can select Apple's standard pictures or your own photos here.
- You can also personalize the lock screen. Either you choose in the setting just mentioned that the image for the home screen should also be set for the lock screen or you select a different photo for it. To do this, go to the photo folder and select a photo. Now click the arrow so that a selection bar opens. Now click on "Set as wallpaper".
