So that moving into a new apartment works smoothly, a lot should be organized in advance. Think of helpers, maybe also a moving company and enough moving boxes. If the move is properly planned, it will be much easier.
Prepare the move properly
Moving can be quite difficult if many pieces of furniture and objects are to be transported from A to B. With the right planning and organization, a lot is much easier.
- Get enough helpers. Ask the friends and relatives in good time so that the helpers have enough time to keep the move date free.
- The number of moving helpers depends on the size of the old apartment. Rule of thumb: Apartment square meters divided by ten. If the old apartment has 80 square meters, there should be 8 moving helpers.
- If there are only a few people who could help, it is worth considering hiring a moving company. The same applies to moving abroad or for large distances between old and new homes.
- Since moving companies have different calculations, you should inquire about some different ones. Some calculate according to the number of helpers, some according to square meters and distance.
- Comparing makes sense. The costs for this vary widely. It is best to shortlist regional companies, they are often cheaper.
The right packing
Start packing your things as early as possible. It is best to get a lot of moving boxes for this. These can be stacked and transported easily.
- Store everything safely when packing. Nothing should break and be provided with feed material, e.g. B. Newsprint or polystyrene or air cushion packaging. This is particularly important with dishes.
- Label all boxes. This will help you find it later. When moving, always have the transport boxes placed in the room in which the items will later find their place.
- For example: Label the boxes with "bedroom - bed linen". So you know where the box is going and what is in it. This is how you can differentiate between easy transport items and things that require caution.
- Measure the new apartment beforehand and use a sketch to plan where each piece of furniture is to be placed. Also determine the heights and widths of the stairways and doors.
- If a piece of furniture does not fit through here, it is important to look for alternatives such as large window openings or the balcony or terrace.
- Before moving, prepare everything so that the helpers have no work. Take apart furniture, empty cupboards, unscrew lamps. The less there is to do on the day of the move, the easier everything is.
- Arrange the key handover with the landlord a few days before the move date. So you can bring a lot into the new apartment before moving, without moving company or helpers. This can save some costs.
