There are numerous Unicode characters that you can enter in different ways. We'll show you the options.
Find and enter Unicode characters
Each letter and special character has a specific Unicode. This means that you can type in over 100, 000 characters on the computer if you know the correct Unicode.
- First you need to find out about the Unicode. Simply search the Internet for the desired character and the keyword "Unicode". Alternatively, you can read the character from a Unicode table.
- Once you have found the symbol, you can simply copy it and paste it back where you want it. If you don't want to search for the character again and again, you can memorize and use the Unicode.
- In Word and Co. you will also find a table with the most important special characters. To do this, simply click on "Symbol" and "More symbols" in the "Insert" tab. If you select a character, the corresponding Unicode is displayed in the lower right.
Word and Co .: Use characters
In Microsoft's Office programs, you can type in the Unicode quite easily. These include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Other programs such as OpenOffice also support the entry of Unicode.
- To do this, type or paste the code into the respective program and then press the [Alt] + [C] keys. The Unicode is now converted to the respective character.
- Example: Type the Unicode U + 2764 and then press [Alt] + [C].
