A channel search can be useful for new channels or changes in your reception area. In this practical tip, we will explain how you do this at Unitymedia.
Unitymedia: Channel search - the background
Before carrying out a station search, the question of its usefulness naturally arises first.
- As soon as new channels or changes are available in your reception area, a search is essential, because otherwise you will often not be able to benefit from the new offers.
- This depends on your TV or receiver. The receivers provided by Unitymedia usually recognize new channel assignments or other changes automatically. With many other devices, however, a corresponding station search is required.
- But even if individual programs are no longer displayed without interference, a channel search can help, because this updates the frequencies accessed on your TV set.
- However, you should note that a station search replaces all stored stations and your favorites list, so you have to set them up and program them again.
Unitymedia: Start channel search
According to the theoretical background, the practical implementation of the search run can now begin.
- To do this, select the "Search" option in the "Service menu".
- There you will find information about the last station search, the stations found, the signal quality or the signal strength.
- Click "OK" to confirm the selection "Start search across all providers".
- If you want to change individual parameters of the search in advance, this works via the "Opt" button. Here it is possible to adjust the channel range or the symbol rates, for example.
- When the search is complete, a success message will appear on your TV display. You cannot use the device during the search.
Unitymedia: Channel search - restore favorites
After the channel search, as announced above, all favorites are deleted.
- But you can restore them relatively easily.
- To do this, go to the "Favorites" submenu and use the green button to select a station whose memory location you want to change.
- Use the left and right arrow keys to switch between the TV list and favorites.
- Then press the red button to save the settings.
- If you want to delete stored stations, select the station and press the green button. Press the red button again to save.
- To change the order of the favorites, select a station and press the "OK" button. Then navigate to the desired storage location and press "OK" again. To save, press the red button as usual.
