Allow unsigned drivers under Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 is strict when it comes to the use of unsigned drivers and thus uncertified hardware. You can only allow such drivers of old or exotic hardware by switching off the signature check. We explain how to do this here.
Windows 8.1: Deactivate the signature check to allow unsigned drivers
- Open the settings area of the Charms menu with [Win] + [I]. Click on "Switch off".
- Now hold down the Shift key and select "Restart". Then a menu appears in which you can choose »Troubleshooting | Advanced options Startup Settings | Select Restart «.
- After the boot process there is a new menu in which you can switch off the driver signing by pressing the [7] key to allow the unsigned drivers.
