Set up recovery point and system image in Windows 7
With recovery points under Windows 7 you can "save" your computer system again in case of serious problems. We show you how to create such a point, for example, before a larger program installation, and also explain how to save a system image.
How to set recovery points on Windows 7
- Open the control panel of your computer with "Start".
- Open the "System and Security" menu and follow the "System" menu item.
- In the left column you will now see "Computer Protection" below "Device Manager" and "Remote Settings". This also hides the restore point under Windows 7.
- Now a window opens in which you can find the "Create" button at the bottom. If you click this, you only have to enter a name for the restore point, for example the current date.
- With the click on "Ok" the creation of the backup begins, this may take a few minutes.
Create a complete system image
A restore point refers only to the system components. Files are not affected and are lost during a system restore. You can prevent this with a so-called "system image".
- You can generate the system image in the Control Panel under "System and Security" in the "Backup and Restore" menu.
- You can save this on the hard disk or as a backup on a DVD.
