Planting a baking pan is a nice upcycling idea if you want to use it wisely after sorting out. So you don't have to throw them away and your flowers also have a new place to relax.
Planting a baking pan - first steps
If you have an old baking pan that you no longer need in the kitchen, you can use it as a planter. It does not matter whether the shape is small or large, elongated or round.
- Use a drill to make small drain holes in the floor. This way, the irrigation water can always drain away and there is no waterlogging.
- If you want to use the cake tin as a planter, leave out the holes. Instead, make sure that the planter you put in the mold has drain holes.
- Alternatively, there are plant bags in various shapes and sizes.
- When you are ready to prepare, fill the new planter with potting soil. Depending on the type of plant, use herb and cultivating soil, potting soil or, for example, cactus soil.
Use the cake tin as a flower pot
In the next step you can use the cake pan as a flower pot and put beautiful plants in the ground. Flowers that grow from bulbs are very pretty. To do this, plant the onions and place the form in a sunny spot.
- Fruit or vegetable plants are also suitable for the baking mold, such as strawberry plants. They are a real delight for people and insects with their beautiful blooms and also offer something to snack on with their delicious fruits.
- Kitchen herbs such as parsley, chives or basil are also very useful. If you grow them on the kitchen window, the baking pan does not even have to move far and continues to serve you in the kitchen.
- If you want to give away a planted baking tin, you can also plant it with home-grown moss, for example. Then stick bows, greetings or other congratulatory symbols on wooden skewers into the moss.
Tips and information for planted baking tins
When you plant a baking mold, the material of the mold also plays a role in the correct location.
- If, for example, you plant a metal cake tin and put it outside in wind and weather, it will soon be covered with rust stains. It is therefore better to use them indoors .
- Stone baking tins are very suitable for outdoors, as they are less susceptible to wind and weather. You can also paint stone shapes wonderfully, for example with blooming floral motifs or colorful decorations in the form of leaves.
- When painting the cake tin, pay attention to weatherproof, ecological colors . Otherwise it may be that the first rain will wash away your artwork immediately.
- By the way, you can not only use old baking molds for planting, but also sorted dishes, buckets and pots .
