Change URL of the YouTube channel - so it'll work
By default, YouTube assigns a random URL to your channel. Under certain circumstances you can change this to a simpler link. We show you how to do this.
Change your own channel URL on YouTube - the requirements
In the past, you could change your channel URL on YouTube at any time. For some time now, however, you have to fulfill certain requirements:
- You need at least 500 subscribers.
- Your channel must be at least 30 days old.
- A photo must be set as a channel symbol.
- Channel pictures must also be available online.
Change custom channel URL on YouTube
If you meet the requirements, you can create a personalized channel URL in the YouTube settings with just a few clicks. This then appears not only on the video portal, but also on Google Plus.
- Call up the advanced settings and log in with your YouTube account.
- Look for the custom URL hint here and click the link it contains.
- Now enter your desired URL. The format is always the same: "//www.youtube.com/user/BenutzerURL".
- If the entered URL is already taken, you will receive a message and have to choose a different name.
- Finally, check the box next to "I accept the terms of use" and click on "Change URL" in the lower left corner.
- If you would also like to change the case of your URL, log in to Google Plus and click on your profile picture and "My account" in the top right corner.
- In the "About me" section, navigate to the "Links" section. Click on "Edit" under "Google+ URL".
- Then change the spelling of the URL and save the changes.
