Recognize USB 3.0 - it's that easy
If you want to use a device with USB 3.0, there are several ways to identify the correct connection. In this practical tip, we will show you which they are.
Recognize USB 3.0 - this is how you find the right USB port
In general, devices with USB 3.0 also work on a USB 2.0 port, but the advantages of USB 3.0 cannot be used here.
- Color: If the USB connection is blue on the inside, it is a USB 3.0 connection. However, please note that a black connector does not necessarily stand for USB 2.0.
- Marking: A small marking can often be seen next to the connections. The designation "SS" (Superspeed) or "3.0" indicates a USB 3.0 connection.
- Device Manager: Open the Device Manager, you will find all USB connections under the "USB controller" category. If you see the term "USB 3.0" here, such a connection is definitely available.
