USB 3.0 too slow - what to do?
If the transfer of data with USB 3.0 is too slow, you have to do it yourself. We show you how to speed up the transfer via USB 3.0.
External hard drive: USB 3.0 too slow
- In the description of each external hard drive you will find the respective rotation speed. The data are given in rpm (rounds per minute).
- Optimal speeds can be reached at 7200 rpm. These may cost a few euros more, but with large amounts of data the speed pays off.
USB stick: USB 3.0 too slow
If a USB stick is too slow, this is mostly due to the built-in chip. The fastest transfer rates are provided by SLC chips. If another chip is installed, the transmission can be much slower.
Drivers make USB 3.0 faster
Check the manufacturer's website to see if new drivers are available. These receive updates from time to time, which mainly optimize the speed.
In the next practical tip, we will show you the advantages of USB 3.0.
