Clean the USB port properly and keep it clean - how it works
Dust often accumulates in a USB port that has not been used for a long time. You should therefore clean it regularly. If you insert a USB stick or a cable into the socket, a wool mouse will condense into solid felt. In some cases, this means that a data connection is no longer possible. We'll show you how to clean and keep USB ports properly clean.
Clean the USB connection
Before you start to feel ashamed: you can't help it! And this phenomenon almost never has anything to do with "cleaning too rarely". The device fans, which blow the warm air out of the interior of the housing, are usually to blame. They also suck in the air through the USB sockets, which hold back and collect the dust like a filter.
- Depending on how advanced the wool mouse stage is on your devices, you can solve this problem with the upholstery nozzle of the vacuum cleaner or by carefully handling a toothpick.
- Once you have cleaned the sockets, prevent future dust by using USB cover caps. These practical plastic parts cost little (50 pieces for less than 10 euros). But they protect USB sockets very effectively.
