USB headset: Play sound through boxes
If you use a USB headset, you can still play your sound through the normal speakers. We'll show you how.
Sound through boxes: USB headset as a communication device
If you only want to use your headset for Skype, Teamspeak or as a VoIP device, you can make the right settings in the control panel:
- Start the Control Panel and open the "Sound" menu.
- Another window shows you all of your playback options.
- First click on your boxes and select "As standard" from the list. Now every sound is played through your speakers.
- With a right click on your headset you can "select this as the default communication device".
- Your headset is now automatically selected as the first choice for communication programs such as Skype. So you can continue to listen to your friends over the headphones here.
Set software: Play box sound despite headset
With many music or chat programs, you can select your playback sources individually. To do this, you only have to select your boxes as the standard playback device in the system settings, as described above.
- Skype: Open the settings under "Actions" and go to the menu item "Audio Settings". Now you can choose both your microphone and your playback source.
- Teamspeak: You can also select your settings specifically under TS3: Open the options under "Settings" and go to "Playback". Now confirm your headset as the playback device.
- MediaMonkey: If you only want to play your music through your speakers, we recommend MediaMonkey. In the "Options" menu, select the "MediaMonkey DirectSound output" plugin under "Player"> "Output Plug-Ins". You can set your boxes as playback devices in the settings for this output medium. Finally, select your headset as "Standard" in the Control Panel.
In order to understand everything about your headset despite the speakers, you should increase the volume of the headphones.
